French Butter Dish, Poppy

French Butter Dishes are designed to keep butter fresh at room temperature. The lid of the dish is large enough to press 1/4 pound of butter into it. The bottom part of the dish is made to hold enough water so that when the lid is placed on it, the water level rises a bit and seals the butter from the air. That keeps it fresh and a nice spreading consistency. Changing the water every few days is recommended. This two piece porcelain set provides a simple, compact way to store and serve your butter or margarine. Glaze is glossy white with orange and green painted flowers. Each pot is uniquely made, with slight variations in design or color in comparison to these photographs. Food safe, microwave and dishwasher proof.
